The Site

This brownfield site is currently an underused car park for the adjacent offices.

Although the address is 129 Cumberland Road, the site is accessed directly from Gas Ferry Road, opposite Aardman Animations. Adjacent to the site is the new McArthur’s Yard redevelopment where 147 apartments are currently being built. To the rear of the site is Rolt’s Boatyard.

We recently acquired the whole site, including the heritage building known as The Georgian House which is rented office space.

While a proportion of the underused car park will still remain as parking for the offices, we are proposing to develop on the surplus spaces.

Highly sustainable location

This prominent site is set in a highly accessible location, south-west of the city centre located within the City Docks Conservation area. These homes would be really close to employment including the new basement office we propose. They would also be well-served by public transport – including Metro Link to Temple Meads – and by a rich choice of social and cultural attractions.

Respecting harbourside assets

Like McArthur’s Yard, our site sits within a stone’s throw of the SS Great Britain, Spike Island Centre For Contemporary Arts and Albion Dock. This is a much-celebrated cultural and historic part of Bristol. We also have Rolt’s Boatyard and the Puppet Place next to our site.

At the heart of our design is ensuring our development not only fits within this dockside built environment, but also does not impede the ability of traditional neighbouring businesses to continue to thrive.
